HOMEOPATHY
FOR HEALTH
I discovered Homeopathy in 1991 when I had my first child. This led me on a path of discovery and
fired my passion for healing, until I finally qualified as a homeopath in the summer of 2006.
I
studied first at the visionary Practical College of Homeopathy, and finished my training at the South East College of Homeopathy
in Lewes. This training has given me the knowledge to develop a system of healing that is results driven and encompasses
nutrition, herbs, flower essences, and diet. I am fully insured to practice and am a registered full member of the ARH (Alliance
of Registered Homeopaths), one of the main bodies representing homeopaths in the UK.
I am also one of the Principles
of the Southern College of Homeopathy, based in Salomons in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
So why homeopathy? As a practitioner I cannot say enough about the
benefits of homeopathic medicine. And I am not alone - more and more I am meeting workers from the medical profession - nurses,
as well doctors who feel that homeopathy is medicine of the future. In reality homeopathy has been in use in countries throughout
the world for over two centuries. In many European countries, medical doctors use homeopathy along-side their traditional
methods.
The human body has an infinite capacity for self-repair. In today's society we think that
if we have an illness - the only way to correct it is with intrusive methods and medications. However many practitioners -
natural as well as medical know that it is not so. Homeopathic medicine facilitates the body's physical, and emotional
recovery without causing more damage to the body. This is a really important point - your body is yours to be responsible
for, if you eat food that is not fresh you will have a stomach ache, if you drink too much - you will have a headache
- these are all warning signs that your body does not like what is happening to it. In the very same way when a
medication that does not agree with you is taken - your body lets you know - so it's important to listen.
Homeopathic medicine has been used for centuries
throughout the world. It is widely accepted as an important part of medical practice throughout Europe, Asia and Africa.
What is Practical Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is fundamentally an alternative form of medicine,
based on solid scientific principles. A ‘Practical homeopath’ is one who has had a vocational
training in the art and science of homeopathy. This provides the practitioner with a range of tools and concepts
that increases their ability to successfully treat clients.
• The science of homeopathy is based on an energetic model of health
observed through the careful analysis and evaluation of the vital energy of the patient, backed up by the evidence of
what needs to be cured followed by the most appropriate choice of method and its application.
• The art is the use of the repertory, in
the choice of remedy/ remedies, the potency and the way the prescription is given.
A ‘practically’ trained homeopath has been taught to use a wide range of ‘methods’
that have been developed since Hahnemann’s times and not just one method. NB: Practical homeopathy is not a method!
It is an approach to the study of homeopathy.
Why is the practical approach becoming necessary?
In the early days of homeopathy prescribing was done on just a
few chosen symptoms. The introduction of modern medicinal drugs, immunisation programs, an over-emphasis on an allopathic
approach to illness predominates, allied to stress, pollution and changes in people’s natural dietary habits means that
prescribing methods have had to adapt to modern problems. Dealing with high level of toxicity and its effects has become
a major part of practice. The complex pictures presented by modern clients need to be matched by an understanding of the range
of methods, and which particular method is the most appropriate at particular points along the healing process.
The modern homeopath needs to be able to use the
main methods developed so far and understand how they can be used to help in the choice of treatment. So,
although the ‘classical’ method has its place and context for use, if you are taught to look at patients from
one perspective only the results are limited. It leads to remedy guessing and guru chasing in an ever increasing spiral of
confusion for the prescriber.
A
‘practical homeopath’ is one who has the ability to prescribe from the most appropriate methods – a range
of which have been developed by leading homeopaths over the past 200 years.
Hahnemann was the first practical homeopath in the sense that he never stopped
changing and adapting his approach to meet the needs of the individual.
I am a Co-Principal for the Southern college of Homeopathy
based at Salomon's in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
I am also a Reiki Master/Teacher.
